‘Turning your passion into your living – an Iranian story‘ with guest Shirin Shabestari

It has often been said that you should follow your passion and then make a living out of it. However, there are also arguments that this isn’t always wise. Having a regular job with a regular income may offer you and your family more security. The world is also littered with failed business stories. Do you stay or do you go for it? My guest Shirin Shabestari, grew up hiking Iran’s beautiful mountains with her dad as a young girl. She later moved abroad and did her studies and started a family but rekindled a passion for hiking and then mountaineering.  In 2014 she founded Persian Pursuit, leading treks and ski expeditions to Iran. She is very passionate about sharing her passion and stories from the mountaineering world in Iran with the West and inspiring people to visit this most misunderstood country. During this show we will discuss the pros and cons of whether to follow your passion and gain insight into Shirin’s experience and learn more about Iran and why it is so misunderstood.

This show will be airing live on 8th December 2017 at 8am(PT)/11am(EST)/4pm(GMT). To listen please visit http://www.voiceamerica.com/show/1959/

Shirin Shabestari

Iranian-born London-based mother of two, Shirin Shabestari grew up hiking Iran’s beautiful mountains with her dad as a young girl. She later moved abroad and did her studies and started a family. An ascent of the 5610m high Damavand in Iran which was a childhood dream, rekindled her love for the mountains. From then on she dedicated all her free time to the outdoors, taking up climbing, going on annual trips to the Alps and becoming a regular at her local indoor climbing wall. In 2014 she founded Persian Pursuit, leading treks and ski expeditions to Iran. Kindness and Connection with Leon Logothetis

I recently shared a stage with Chris, speaking at a Business Growth Conference in Mayfair, London.Chris had a tough job as the final speaker at the end of the afternoon, following a series of speeches from highly experienced conference speakers. The organisers were delighted with Chris – he did a splendid job reminding the audience that they only had themselves to blame if they left that conference and failed to take appropriate action. Using humour and pathos, Chris engaged with the audience and left everyone feeling upbeat and raring to go at the end of the day. I highly commend Chris to you as a speaker.
