‘Turning your passion into your living – an Iranian story‘ with guest Shirin Shabestari

It has often been said that you should follow your passion and then make a living out of it. However, there are also arguments that this isn’t always wise. Having a regular job with a regular income may offer you and your family more security. The world is also littered with failed business stories. Do you stay or do you go for it? My guest Shirin Shabestari, grew up hiking Iran’s beautiful mountains with her dad as a young girl. She later moved abroad and did her studies and started a family but rekindled a passion for hiking and then mountaineering.  In 2014 she founded Persian Pursuit, leading treks and ski expeditions to Iran. She is very passionate about sharing her passion and stories from the mountaineering world in Iran with the West and inspiring people to visit this most misunderstood country. During this show we will discuss the pros and cons of whether to follow your passion and gain insight into Shirin’s experience and learn more about Iran and why it is so misunderstood.

This show will be airing live on 8th December 2017 at 8am(PT)/11am(EST)/4pm(GMT). To listen please visit http://www.voiceamerica.com/show/1959/

Shirin Shabestari

Iranian-born London-based mother of two, Shirin Shabestari grew up hiking Iran’s beautiful mountains with her dad as a young girl. She later moved abroad and did her studies and started a family. An ascent of the 5610m high Damavand in Iran which was a childhood dream, rekindled her love for the mountains. From then on she dedicated all her free time to the outdoors, taking up climbing, going on annual trips to the Alps and becoming a regular at her local indoor climbing wall. In 2014 she founded Persian Pursuit, leading treks and ski expeditions to Iran. She is passionate about sharing her passion and the stories from the mountaineering world in Iran with the West and inspire people to visit this most misunderstood country.

“It was a pleasure to be a guest on Chris´s Voice America show; I hope I was
able to share a few nuggets from my experience in business. Chris – you are
a natural communicator and connector.Chris kindly accepted an invitation to spend a couple of days with me after
the show, to rekindle his connection with the Yorkshire Dales.  It was a
pleasure to get to know Chris more and understand even more of what he
offers his clients and, potentially, clients I work with too.It was a great investment of my time, understanding the dynamic and
breadth of Chris’s range of skills. Chris is a ‘people’ person; he has an ability
to get the heart of issues and help people work through these, both
individually and as teams. I am really excited about exploring ways to work
more closely with Chris in the future. I am also looking forward to reading his
forthcoming book ‘The Power to Get Things Done’.If you want to ‘be more and achieve more’ you need to talk to Chris; he will
make a difference in so many ways.”
